Founded and Led by Steve Brown
Helping Hands Care and Consultancy is a specialist children’s home and supported accommodation consultancy supporting children's homes and supported accommodation providers across the UK.
Founded by experienced children’s social care professional Steve Brown, we combine first-hand operational and regulatory experience with a nationwide network of specialist consultants to provide practical, knowledgeable and reliable support.
From Ofsted registration and compliance to Regulation 44 visits, Responsible Individual and Nominated Individual services, safeguarding, training and ongoing operational support, we understand the realities of running a children’s home and work alongside providers to help them deliver safe, compliant and high-quality services for children and young people.

Helping Hands Care and Consultancy provides specialist children’s home consultancy and Ofsted support to children's homes and supported accommodation providers across the UK. The company was founded by Steve Brown, whose extensive frontline, management and operational experience within children’s residential care underpins the support we provide today.
Steve began his career working with vulnerable children and young people within a young offenders’ prison before progressing into residential children’s homes. Throughout his career, he has held senior positions including Registered Manager, Responsible Individual, Nominated Individual and Director, giving him first-hand experience of the operational, regulatory and safeguarding challenges faced by children’s home's and supported accommodation providers.
Steve is also the owner of Ofsted-registered children’s homes and has a proven track record of registering, developing and managing residential children’s homes. This experience is at the heart of Helping Hands Care and Consultancy.
From Ofsted registration and compliance to Regulation 44 visits, Responsible Individual and Nominated Individual support, safeguarding, management support and Ofsted preparation, our services are grounded in practical experience of operating within the sector.
Steve’s approach is focused on helping providers establish and maintain safe, compliant and high-quality services that achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
Today, Steve leads Helping Hands’ nationwide network of experienced children’s social care consultants, combining his own operational experience with specialist expertise from across the sector.

Alongside Steve's work within children’s residential care, Steve serves as the Vice Chair on the Board of Trustees for YMCA South Midlands, furthering his commitment to improving opportunities and outcomes for children and young people.

Steve is a co-author with Fatima Whitbread MBE in her book The Strength of Resilience.
The book brings together powerful stories from people who have faced challenges, found courage in difficult moments, and discovered the strength to move forward.
All profits from the book go to Fatima’s UK Campaign.
Support throughout your journey – from Ofsted registration and opening a children’s home through to Regulation 44 visits, Responsible Individual services, compliance, safeguarding, training and ongoing operational support.
Practical, tailored support – we recognise that every organisation and children’s home is different, so our advice is tailored rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
A focus on quality and outcomes – regulatory compliance matters, but ultimately our work is focused on helping providers deliver safe, effective and high-quality care for children and young people.
