Mock Ofsted Inspections

Prepare for Ofsted with Confidence

Realistic and Independent AssessmentS

Whether you are preparing for your first inspection, looking to improve your current Ofsted rating or simply want independent assurance around the quality of your service, our experienced consultants can provide practical, constructive support.

What is a Mock Ofsted Inspection?

A mock Ofsted inspection replicates key elements of an Ofsted inspection and provides an independent review of how your service is operating in practice.

Our consultants consider the quality of care and support being provided, leadership and management, safeguarding arrangements, records, policies, staff practice and the experiences and progress of children and young people.

The purpose is not simply to identify paperwork that may be missing. We look at the service as a whole and consider whether there is clear evidence that systems, leadership and staff practice are resulting in positive outcomes for children and young people.

Following the mock inspection, you will have a clearer understanding of how prepared your service is for Ofsted and where improvements should be made.

An Independent Review of your Service

When you are involved in the day-to-day operation of a children’s home or supported accommodation service, it can be difficult to view the service from an external perspective.

A mock Ofsted inspection provides valuable independent scrutiny.

Our consultants will challenge where appropriate while remaining supportive and solutions-focused. We do not simply identify areas that require improvement; we help providers understand why an issue matters and what practical action can be taken to address it.

This makes the process particularly useful for Registered Managers, Responsible Individuals, Nominated Individuals, Directors and provider organisations seeking additional assurance around the quality of their services.

What Happens after the Inspection?

Following the inspection, we can provide a clear overview of our findings, including areas of good practice, potential areas of concern and recommendations for improvement.

Where required, Helping Hands Care and Consultancy can also provide ongoing consultancy support to help your organisation address identified actions and strengthen its systems, practice and management oversight.

This may include support with:

  • Action plans
  • Policies and procedures
  • Auditing and monitoring systems
  • Safeguarding
  • Staff development
  • Management oversight
  • Regulation 44 visits
  • Responsible Individual support
  • Nominated Individual support
  • Compliance

Why Choose Helping HAnds Care and consultancy?

Helping Hands Care and Consultancy provides specialist consultancy services to organisations working with children and young people.

Our approach is experienced, practical and provider-focused. We understand that preparing for Ofsted is not simply about having the correct policies in place. Inspectors will want to understand what life is like for children and young people, the quality of staff practice and whether leaders have effective oversight of the service.

We use our experience of children’s social care to provide constructive challenge, identify potential gaps and help providers strengthen their services before those issues are identified during an Ofsted inspection.

We work with children’s homes and supported accommodation providers across England, offering both one-off mock inspections and wider ongoing consultancy support.
