For Children's Homes and Supported Accommodation
Whether you are opening a new service, require additional leadership and regulatory oversight, or need to appoint an experienced professional without recruiting to a full-time position, we can help you find the right Responsible Individual or Nominated Individual for your organisation.
Our nationwide network of experienced children’s social care professionals enables us to provide flexible, knowledgeable and practical Responsible Individual and Nominated Individual support tailored to the needs of your service.

The Responsible Individual plays a key role within an Ofsted-registered children’s home, providing oversight of the service and helping to ensure that the organisation maintains strong governance, leadership and standards of care.
Helping Hands can provide experienced part-time Responsible Individuals for children’s homes, working alongside the provider, Registered Manager and wider leadership team.
Our Responsible Individuals provide support with areas including:
Our aim is not simply to fill an Responsible Individual position. We match providers with experienced professionals who can bring meaningful oversight, constructive challenge and practical children's home experience to the organisation.

Helping Hands also provides part-time Nominated Individual support for Ofsted-registered supported accommodation services for 16 and 17-year-olds.
The Nominated Individual provides an important link between the registered provider and the operation of the service, helping to ensure appropriate oversight, governance and compliance with the requirements applying to supported accommodation.
Our experienced professionals work alongside your Registered Service Manager and senior leadership team to support the effective operation and development of your service.
Support includes regulatory compliance, quality assurance, safeguarding oversight, service development, management support, preparation for Ofsted and monitoring areas requiring improvement.
Not every organisation requires a full-time Responsible Individual or Nominated Individual.
Our part-time Responsible Individual and Nominated Individual services provide providers with access to experienced senior professionals on a flexible basis, with the level of support agreed according to the needs, size and circumstances of your organisation.
This can be particularly valuable for new children's home providers, organisations expanding their portfolio, supported accommodation providers preparing for Ofsted registration, or established services requiring additional senior-level expertise.
At Helping Hands, we believe effective oversight should add genuine value to your organisation.
Our Responsible Individuals and Nominated Individuals are selected for their knowledge, leadership experience and understanding of children's social care regulation and practice.
They work collaboratively with providers and managers while maintaining the professional challenge and oversight that are essential to maintaining high standards.
The focus is always on supporting safe, compliant and high-quality services that achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
Helping Hands Care and Consultancy was founded by Steve Brown, whose extensive career within children's residential care has included senior positions as a Registered Manager, Responsible Individual and Director.
As a children's home owner himself, Steve understands first-hand the importance of having strong leadership, effective oversight and the right people supporting a service.
That experience is central to the way Helping Hands operates today.
Under Steve's leadership, we have developed a nationwide network of carefully selected children's social care professionals, allowing us to connect providers with experienced Responsible Individuals, Nominated Individuals and specialist consultants who understand the realities of operating regulated children's services.
Providers choose Helping Hands because we offer more than recruitment. We provide access to an established network of experienced professionals backed by a specialist children's home and supported accommodation consultancy.
Our approach provides:
We'll take the time to understand your organisation, the service you provide and the level of support you require before identifying an experienced professional who is suited to your needs.
